Me + Generosity = ?

Every now and then I just want to put a smile on a clients face. This should probably happen every single time, but especially in retail, sometimes I just want to choke a bitch. I don't care if the client doesn't make a purchase or decides to invest on a shit load of products that could last her a life time. I just want to put a smile on that face. This happened to me on Friday.

When a client steps into my store, she usually has some idea of what they want. I help them find the product their looking for, apply the product they seek and I send them off with it. But from time to time I'm lucky enough to meet someone who knows almost nothing about cosmetics and are too timid or embarrassed to ask about it.

On Friday, a shopper came in looking for a small birthday gift for her friend, after spending some time with her and finding something interesting I sent her off like Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, thank you come again. But I found her lingering around picking up products and playing with them, figuring out where it goes and what it did. I approached her a couple times, but she kindly denied my assistance and continued to look around.

I knew what she was doing. For one I'm not new. And second, I know she doesn't know shit about makeup just from looking at her face since all she had on was a simple eyeliner and a shadow that blended right into her skin.

So the next time I engaged her I noticed she was playing around with some eye shadows. I walked up and told her those colors would look awesome on her, I didn't even ask for her permission, I took her hand and sat her down and threw those colors on her eye lids. I eventually did her foundation and added some blush to give her more color on her face. When she got up she was cheesing like she hasn't in a long time. She looked DAMN good.

After spending about an hour with her, all she purchased was her friend's birthday gift. I didn't care one bit. I was just happy to put a smile on her face.
